Cape Byron Kayaks offers you the opportunity to kayak among dolphins on a three-hour tour that includes snorkelling with rays and turtles. During whale-watching season, from May to November, you’ll have the opportunity to paddle near whales. Guides are qualified surf lifesavers. You can kayak up close to the local bottlenose dolphins at Wategos Beach in delightful Byron Bay. You’ll also learn about local history, including Aboriginal history, Cape Byron Lighthouse, dolphins, whales and turtles.
All safety gear and equipment is provided, including life jackets, wetsuits and helmets. Kayaks are long and stable, and easy to paddle. In summer, tours begin at 8.30am and 1pm. From May to August, tours start at 10am and 1.30pm. Reservations are essential. From Sydney, you can travel by train up the North Coast to Casino where there are buses to Byron Bay. Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Rex Regional Express service Ballina’s airport, which is a short drive from Byron Bay. A shuttle bus is available at the airport.
