Learn to ride a surfboard at Manly Beach in Sydney and enjoy the jubilation of catching waves at the beach where the first world surfing championship was held in 1964. Qualified surf coaches at the Manly Surf School offer daily surf lessons at the beach. You’ll learn the basics, from paddling and standing on a board to surf safety skills. Lessons for individuals and groups are available seven days a week.
The Manly Surf School is at the North Steyne Surf Life Saving Club, towards the beach’s northern end.Getting to Manly is easy by ferry from Circular Quay, near the city centre. The trip is 30 minutes and passes Sydney Harbour’s spectacular entrance, called the Heads. At Manly Wharf it’s a short walk to the Corso, a pedestrian promenade that leads to Manly Beach.
